Life in plastic!

Which girl didn't have a Barbie doll when she was a kid? Only a few in the world I guess. During my childhood I remember me and my best friend having fights about which doll was better: Barbie or Sindy. The fact is Barbie was and is until now a model that behind her is hidding some of the biggest companies of the world. When Barbie appeared in our world (it was the 50's-oh yes!) girls surprised by her thin leggs, flat belly, long blond hair and blue eyes and her large amount of dresses and belongings. She wasn't like any other doll they' ve ever seen. All the other dolls had childish faces, they were a bit fat and their clothes were so old- fashioned! This new doll was here to stay.. and she really did!
The fact about Barbie was that she promoted a new type of fashion, she didn't have a shame at all to show her flesh behind the clothes. This was absolutely a fashion revolution!
Barbie dolls at 50's didn't look as they look today. The type of Barbie doll was lining with the fashion of the era.
This is how Barbie dolls looked back in the 50's.

The hair, the eyes, the make up were really different from now. The fashion was a bit conservative compared to now but was a revolution for the year she appeared in the stores.

And then.. the 60's and 70's! The Barbie doll now was more colorful. Her hair and make up was different.

We are at the 80's! A trully fashion revolution not only in human fashion but also at Barbie dolls. The colors were more than ever bright, socking clothes, socking big hair with colorfull highlights!

The 90's! This is a decade I have sweet childhood memories. I remember all my girl years were connected with Barbie. What she wears, how her hair is, her dreamhouse, her car.. I used to have a huge bag full of clothes and shoes for my Barbies and I carried her everywhere!
Barbie fashion was mild these years. Her face was sweet and innocent, her make up also.

Fact: at the late 90's the Barbie logo changed back to the 50's calligraphic logo which changed when the fashion became modern.

The 00's. After the logo change there is a change in the face. Barbie looked now more modern, nothing reminds us of the old Barbie. Now her face looks more rounded, her lips are juicy and her eyes bigger with more eyeshadow.

Barbie during the years took many faces and was a model of singers, movies, actors, big companies etc. Everything appeared in the world had a Barbie model. Here are some examples.

 Heidi Klum

On her journey throughout the years Barbie was accompanied by her 3 sisters, her friends and her boyfriend Ken. Ken changed as Barbie changed

Barbie is an ultimate fashion icon for the girls throughout the world.
For her 50th Birthday Barbie's company (aka Mattel) made her a big present. Catwalks, borthday parties and the best: Christian Louboutin created some Barbie outfits and shoes. These Barbies are of course rare and really expensive! Expensive also are vintage Barbie dolls back from the 50's.
